MTV’s Are You The One? premiered in 2014 and soon became a household favorite. With 8 seasons to date, the reality dating show has gone from finding perfect matches for heterosexual contestants to helping gender fluid contestants find love.
But today is a sad day for Are You The One? fans after learning that one of the show’s former contestants was found dead at the tender age of 23.
MTV is a staple when it comes to reality TV. From The Real World, the network’s longest running program in its history, to The Jersey Shore, MTV has paved the way for some of our favorite reality shows to date.
Over the years, we’ve admired, connected and identified with certain reality stars who have turned them into household names. Some stars are still going strong in Hollywood, while others have succumbed to tragedy. Recently, one of MTV’s bright stars passed away.
Alexis Eddy, the 23-year-old former contestant on the reality dating show, was found dead in her West Virginia home. On Thursday morning (Jan. 9), police received a phone call about a female in cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. According to the news outlet, authorities aren’t suspecting any foul play but are waiting on a toxicology report to determine the cause of her death.
TMZ says that a family member told them Alexis went to her mom’s house on Wednesday night and seemed to be fine. She was found by another family member.
Alexis appeared in season 6 of MTV’s Are You The One? in 2017. Hailing from Mannington, West Virginia, Alexis traveled to New Orleans to film and find love. But in the end, didn’t find a match.
Dubbed as the ‘man eater,’ Alexis shook the house up when she revealed on camera that her cousin was a convicted murderer. In September 2019, the reality star took to social media and opened up about her past and present struggles with substance abuse.
