The wrestling diva only ended things with John Cena this summer, but it looks like she has managed to move on quickly!
E! released a sneak peek at Season 8 of Total Divas, which premieres on September 19th and it looks like the latest season will be a big one!
It will feature the ladies participating in WrestleMania 34. The 2018 “Superbowl” of wrestling included more female events than any of the years past.
After a 2015 Raw match in Nashville between the Bella twins and other Divas lasted only 29 seconds, outraged fans began demanding a “WWE Women’s Revolution.” They wanted more screen time and attention for their favorite female wrestlers. The hashtag “#GiveDivasAChance” quickly drew attention from the network.
“Our fans spoke out. It was a global trend that was so loud and so powerful,” Stephanie McMahon told ESPN. “It was a cry for our female performers to be given longer match time and to be given more meaningful story lines and to have deeper character development.”
In the preview, Trinity Fatu triumphantly states, “It’s the best time to be a woman.”
In 2016, WWE dropped the term “divas” and began calling its female performers “superstars,” as they do for males. They also replaced the title belt, which previously featured a butterfly in several shades of pink.
Total Divas did not re-brand after that announcement and the hit reality show continues to carry the same name. The new season will feature the girls’ triumphant achievements on WWE, but it is also sure to show the usual drama.
The preview gives a glimpse of Paige going off on Lana. “You insensitive piece of f*cking…” Paige yells at her co-star.
Lana cuts her off and fires back, “I’m not gonna be a f*cking doormat,” before Nattie Neidhart can play peacemaker. “We all love each other,” she insists, calling the girls all “sisters.”
The sneak peak also gives a glimpse of the storyline that everyone is anxiously waiting for: Nikki Bella’s relationship status. The wrestling superstar is seen boldly fooling around with a cute new dude. “Am I making you embarrassed ’cause you’re with an older woman?” she asks before caressing his face.
“We have so much chemistry,” Nikki proclaims in a voiceover as the clip ends. “It’s amazing.”
Nikki only recently ended her engagement to fellow wrestler John Cena.
“After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding,” Bella said to E! News in July. “After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways.”
“I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man,” Nikki continued. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what’s best for me.”
The wrestler-turned-actor debuted a shocking new look when he stepped out just weeks after calling off his engagement with his longtime girlfriend.
Having been known for his clean-shaven jaw since his WWE debut in 2002, the 41-year-old turned heads in May by showing off some post-breakup facial hair. In a photo shared by on Twitter, the Blockers star can be seen rocking a serious scruffy mustache and goatee.
“Never thought I’d see the day John Cena grows his facial hair,” the fan remarked, “he’ll look different with a beard and a mustache.”
John and Nikki, 34, first ended their relationship in April after six years of dating. “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another,” they said in a statement. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
