This may be the last of the New Jersey Housewives
Viewers may have seen the last of Real Housewives of New Jersey already. It seems as though production of the ninth season has stalled, and it may never start again. After allegations of bullying, harassment, police involvement, and even a romantic scandal, Bravo may be done with RHONJ for good this year. The producers have been unable to find someone to add levity to the embattled cast.
The Bad Season
Season eight of The Real Housewives of New Jersey was so controversial that the producers may be wary about trying to create another season of the show. Siggy Flicker quit because she believed that the producers instructed Margaret Josephs to target and harass her for ratings. Fighting between Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and Dolores Catania reached an intolerable level that viewers didn’t find entertaining.
In addition to the main stars constantly arguing, “friend” of the HousewivesDanielle Staub bragged about getting itimate with her now-fiancé Marty Caffrey in the bathroom of Teresa and Joe Gorga’s family restaurant. The footage was allegedly so raunchy that it wasn’t aired on Bravo.
According to production insiders, the producers want to “go in a new direction” and have a less scandalous season. The problem is they can’t find anyone who can restore peace between the stars.
“A new woman was test filming with the ladies, like a try-out, but she didn’t work. They have tried out a few women, but none of them are working. Production is completely held up,” a source revealed to Radar Online.
The show always premiered in the spring and summertime until the eighth season which premiered in October. If filming hasn’t begun yet, a ninth season could take until late 2018 or early 2019 to premiere. “Filming that was scheduled to start February 1 is now going to start in March. And none of this is making the producers happy,” the source continued.
If the women can’t start getting along with each other for the sake of the show and a new castmember can’t be found, RHONJ may be shut down for good. The source warned:
“The pressure to change the show is resting with all of the ladies this time. Producers are still threatening to cancel the show for good if nothing works out.”
“I would love it because Teresa and I have each other’s back. They did to me what they did to her so,” she told Us Weekly while attending the New York premiere of First We Take Brooklyn on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
Gone for Good
Even though Danielle and Teresa fought bitterly during the first season of the show, they’ve become good friends and allies. Danielle even speaks to Teresa’s husband Joe when he calls her from prison. “Her and her husband [Joe Giudice] speak every day. He’s amazing. I speak to him on the phone, when I’m with her, and he has clarity and he’s done some nice soul searching and changes as well. I’m happy for them,” she explained.
The fate of the show hangs in the balance, but The Real Housewives of Orange County has begun filming despite having two of stars quitting the show.
