There could be a whole new cast next season
The stars of Real Housewives of New York might take up arms against their network since they were placed on a dangerous boat to be filmed for the show. However, their contracts may forbid them from being awarded any money. If they choose to take legal action against Bravo, it may also cost them their jobs. They may just have to deal with the pain from the boating incident if they want to keep collecting their RHONY checks.
Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Carole Radziwill, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Tinsley Mortimer jetted off to Colombia for their annual international trip in mid-February. The Real Housewives of New York cameras were filming all of their moments together, and the producers scheduled a pleasure cruise that was set to be filmed for the show on Feb. 13.
The cast boarded a ship headed for Cartagena that was supposed to be a luxurious yacht, but it turned out to be sub-par. “The boat was old, beaten up and falling apart. There were no amenities, no food, and a crew that didn’t know what they were doing. I mean, the anchor had to be sawed off before they even departed because it was so rusty and tangled. That’s how bad this was,” a source told People Magazine.
Some of the women were wary of even getting on the boat, but others thought that it would be fine. “Ramona and Sonja did their usual [complaining]. Carole, Dorinda, Luann, and Bethenny tried to have fun with it, as they have with a lot of the sub-par conditions they’ve experienced in Colombia, and just enjoy the ride. But even they changed their tune in the end,” the source continued.
The waters were choppy, and some of the women became seasick. To make matters much worse, the engine caught fire which caused the boat to take on water. “Things began flying off the boat. […] None of the women felt safe,” the source explained. “Carole and Tinsley got sick and were throwing up overboard. The others were all screaming for help. They were all scared out of the minds. They thought they were going to die out there.”
According to another source, the crew was unable to put out the fire, and there were only a few life vests on board. “They didn’t have a fire extinguisher nor did they speak English. They were far out to sea, and they thought they were going down like the Titanic,” a production source told Page Six.
Fortunately, a passing ship saw the RHONY cast in distress and rescued them. The ladies made it out of the shipwreck unscathed, but they may blame Bravo for putting them in the risky situation.
Sue and Be Fired
It has been reported that Tinsley, Dorinda, Ramona, and Bethenny have been considering suing Bravo for putting them in a dangerous situation, but they may not have a case. A production insider claims that they weren’t in any danger, and they couldn’t sue the network even if they were.
“If they even think about a lawsuit against Bravo they will all be fired and replaced. Bravo has footage from the boat and there was no fire or rescue boat. The series is dull and they are trying to build up drama,” a source revealed to Radar Online.
Bravo released a statement saying that the boat was never in danger of sinking. “The safety of our cast and crew is paramount and, to that end, we are still reviewing the situation,” they concluded.
