As a Canadian pop star once said, “Baby, baby, baby oh!” It turns out that this reality TV star is expecting a bundle of joy, and it’s not with The Bachelor star that she competed for!
While this competitor on The Bachelor may not have gone home with the noted bachelor of her season, she’s certainly won in her own way. Bekah Martinez captured the hearts of thousands while she competed for Arie Luyendyk’s love. While that didn’t work out, the young reality TV star is now expecting with her boyfriend of seven months, Grayston Leonard.
Bekah, who became famous first for her pixie cut, revealed to Pure Wow that three months into their relationship she realized that she was pregnant.
“I was in disbelief and thought, ‘Is this really happening?’” the reality TV star recalled. “I immediately called Grayston and then went across the street to the Dollar Tree and bought two more pregnancy tests. They, of course, were both positive.”
She added that it was “legitimately a dream come true.”
“It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long,” she said. “I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of marriage and relationships, but I’ve always felt sure that I want to be a mom.”
They found the news on, of all days, Father’s Day.
“I was crying (happy tears) and said, ‘You’re going to be a dad!’ We hugged, and it was the first time we really got to be overjoyed. We were finally able to celebrate and soak up all of that emotion,” Bekah said about the happy moment.
Though they were obviously excited, they decided to keep the pregnancy to themselves for awhile.
“I wanted time to process it between Gray and I and our family without all of the exterior noise chiming in,” she said. While she could have avoided letting fans know that it was unplanned, she decided it was important to share that part of her journey too.
Bekah said, “I wanted to share this experience with other women who have been in a similar situation or might be in the future, so they know they’re not alone.”
The Bachelor star is due in January of 2019.
“It’s going by so fast! I’m feeling super energized,” she said. “I’ve been able to do a lot of activities that I normally do, like hiking, backpacking and a little bit of climbing. It feels really good because the first trimester was a little rough.”
She said it was so rough that she wasn’t even able to go up stairs.
“It would be a huge exertion of energy for me to even go upstairs,” she explained. “I’d get some headaches and a little bit of nausea here and there. But, honestly, it’s been pretty easygoing.”
