Brazilian model Adriana Lima has hung up her wings after two decades of walking in Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show. News that Lima was leaving the lingerie giant came as a surprise, as the 37-year-old made the announcement November 8, the night of the show.
On Instagram, alongside a video of her last 18 shows with the brand, she wrote, “Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly.”
“And all the [heart emoji] to the best fans in the [globe emoji] ! Love, Adriana [sparkly heart emoji],” she continued in the post.
“You will be always remembered as The VS unique special Angel,” a fan commented on the post. “You were a big part of my teenage years. You were also one of my favorite angles thank you,” wrote another.
Before the show, the mother-of-two talked about wanting to make her kids — eight-year-old Valentina and six-year-old Sienna — proud during her last strut down the VS runway. “They’re going to be there tonight. They’re going to be watching the show,” she told Us Weekly. “I want to make my children proud. I want to give the best for them, so I hope that tonight I will pull it out.”
Though she ripped the walkway for the last time, Lima still vigorously prepared for the event, revealing that this year she added “functional training” to her normal boxing routine. “Everyone knows that I love boxing,” she said.
She added that all females should do something they love to make themselves happy. “It’s all about how you feel. Watch a movie that makes you smile. Listening to inspirational music. Get your nails done and dress yourself up,” she said.
