Barely a day after Young Thug’s official arrest warrant was issued comes reports that the rapper turned himself in. Thugger is in custody and is being held without bail. A judge will decide if he will be allowed to post bail at a later date.
“A grand jury warrant” was issued in Georgia’s DeKalb County, after the rapper was charged with eight felonies.
Late 2017, YT (né Jeffery Lamar Williams) was arrested in Georgia for marijuana possession and illegal window tint. That arrest is coming back to haunt him with a vengeance, as new documents reveal the rapper is being charged with possession and intent to distribute meth, hydrocodone and weed.
He’s also being hit with possession of amphetamine, Alprazolam alongside two counts of codeine possession. Not to mention possession of a firearm.
The window tint charge was not included.
In 2017, the 27-year-old’s lawyer, Brian Steel, vowed to “do everything that is lawful and ethical to clear Mr. Williams of this false allegation.” However, as of now, Thugger nor any legal representation for him has publicly responded to the charges.
This news comes close on the heels of reports that Thug and a few associates were arrested on weapons charges. The rapper made sure to mend the situation, reportedly dropping $185k plus — “$50k for one guy who allegedly had an AK-47 and $35k each for the remaining 4” — on legal fees and bail for five compadres in his inner circle.
According to TMZ‘s sources, “Lawyers’ fees are $7k up front for each person … and YT is handling the ever-rising costs for everyone.” In addition, the artist “had lawyers waiting for all of them at the jail with a bail bondsman.”
Thanks to the “Anybody” rapper, him and his crew were released 12 hours after they were arrested at a Dave & Busters.
In the middle of a self-thrown event at Hollywood’s local Dave & Buster’s — which doubled as the star’s birthday party and Slim Language listening party — Thugger was escorted out in handcuffs.
According to The Blast, the rapper was arrested for felony gun possession after authorities found an AK-47 alongside several other firearms in his car. The search reportedly came after “one of Thug’s cars bumped a squad car belonging to the police department.”
